Sustainable Agriculture

Assist the Farmer in all aspects of production on the 65 acre organically managed farm, including livestock, field crops, horticulture crops and a budding agro-forestry program.  You’ll have the opportunity to build fence, make repairs, do light carpentry, basic mechanics, operate equipment (small and large), and participate in nature preserve management and small research projects.

Stratford’s working farm includes fruits and vegetables, sheep, goats, cattle (beef and dairy), hogs, chickens and llamas.  Haying is a component of an eight year crop rotation that includes corn, spelt, oats, sunflowers, buckwheat, barley and two kinds of hay.
